A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced four drug traders to life-term imprisonment in a case lodged over seizure of 900 bottles phensedyl from the capital’s Ramna area.
The four convicts are Wahiduzzaman Mehedi, Rafikul Islam, Jahangir Alam and Ashrafuzzaman Sagar.
Dhaka Special Sessions Judge Md Iqbal Hossain pronounced the judgment, also fining them Taka 20,000, to suffer one year more behind bars, in the case.
According to the case documents, detective branch (DB) of police on August 25, 2017, stopped a private car and a covered van in the capital’s Moghbazar intersection and seized the phensedyl from the vehicles.
DB filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station and on October 17, 2017, filed charge-sheet.
The court yesterday came up with the judgment after examining eight out of the total 12 witnesses.
