8 extortionists held in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight persons from city’s Jatrabari area on charge of resorting to extortion in transport sector.
The arrestees are Md Omar Faroque Babu ,25, Md Faroque ,28, Md Shahin ,28, Md Yousuf Khan ,44, Nahid Sarker ,30, Md Miraz ,21, Md Anik ,28, and Md Hasan ,23.
Deputy director of RAB-10 Aminul Islam said a team of RAB raided three-star fruits market area in Jatrabari on Tuesday night and arrested the extortionists.
RAB recovered Taka 17,700 from them.
Separate cases were lodged with Jatrabari police station.
