Bangladesh doesn’t want war with anyone: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said the ongoing conflict in Myanmar is their internal affairs and Bangladesh does not want to engage in war with anyone.
“Efforts are still going on to solve the Rohingya repatriation crisis internationally . . . Not only Myan-mar, Bangladesh doesn’t want to engage in war with anyone,” Quader, also ruling Awami League (AL) general secretary told a media briefing at AL Central office of Bangabandhu
Avenue here this afternoon.
He added: “Myanmar has no dispute with us. It is our decision to solve any problem through discussion.”
Referring to some 54 ethnic communities in Myanmar, the minister said it is the conflict of other groups with their army and they have already taken control of various places of Myanmar but there is no dispute with us.
He said if there raises any issue of Myanmar’s conflict with Bangladesh, then Bangladesh government would draw the attention of the United Nations and other international forums as the UN will have a role to play.
The minister said, “What is happening on the Myanmar border is their internal matter. Their internal conflict spills over to the border as well. Even shells, mortar shells are falling here leaving two Bangla-deshi nationals killed.”
Replying to a query, the minister said about party nominations for reserved women’s seats in the Jatiya Sangsad, Awami League will nominate those who have given up and tried.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started working over the next election soon after the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls and even during her district visits, she uses to write down the names of suitable individuals and use it in time.
Quader said, the election Commission (EC) will announce the election schedule and then the party nom-ination board will sit to finalize the candidature in 48 reserved seats.
AL Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque and SM Kamal Hossain, Office Secretary Biplob Ba-rua, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Syed Abdul Awal Shamim and Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, among others, were present.
Earlier in the morning, party general secretary Obaidul Quader inspected the sale and submission of nomination forms of Awami League in the reserved women’s seats of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad.
