Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Mohim Aldin Ahmed Fahmi yesterday called on Jatiya Sang-sad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office here.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral issues including parliamentary relations, formation of friendly parliamentary group and functions and development of parliamentary activities of the two coun-tries, said a release.
Chaudhury said the 12th parliament will form Bangladesh-Egypt Parliamentary Friendly Group and it will play an important role in building good relations between the people of the two countries. The two countries will be benefited through exchanging experiences of lawmakers, she said.
She said Egypt is a friend of Bangladesh for long and hoped that the friendly relations of the two coun-tries will remain intact in future also.
Congratulating Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the Egyptian envoy said Bangladesh and Egypt have historical relations.
JS Whip Iqbalur Rahim and senior officials of the parliament secretariat were present.
