Dinajpur: Four people, including a rickshaw van driver, were killed after being hit by a bus of Bangla-desh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) on the Dinajpur-Rangpur highway at Pakerhat road junction area under Chirirbandar upazila of the district yesterday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The deceased included two Chakma citi-zens who came to sell honey, a rickshaw driver. The other is a resident of Ranibandar market in Chi-rirbandar upazila of the district.
The accident occurred when a Rangpur-bound BRTC bus from Dinajpur hit the rickshaw standing at Pa-kerhat road junction around 9am this morning leaving four people including three passengers and a rick-shaw van driver dead on the spot, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chirirbandar Police Station Abul Hasnat Khan said.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to the Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital morgue.
Police seized the BRTC bus but its driver managed to flee, the OC said.
Legal action is under process, the OC added.
