‘Even if I say something good, you take it differently’

Staff Reporter:

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Friday said the investigation into the journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case will continue until the real criminals are identified and detained.

“I feel sad actually, even if I say something good for you, you take it differently. My earlier statement on giving time for probing the case is being presented differently,” he said while talking to reporters in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria this morning.

“I talked about giving 50 years time for a probe if necessary, in relative terms. I meant we will bring to justice the people who have committed that crime, we will detain them no matter how long it takes.”

Akhaura Awami League President Mohammad Ali Chowdhury and General Secretary and municipality Mayor Takzil Khalifa were present on the occasion, among others, read an official release.

Anisul said there is an instance in the United Kingdom, where killers were nabbed 42 years after committing the crime, adding, “Even in the US, recently the mystery behind the murder case has been revealed after 24 years.”

The law minister reached Akhaura from Dhaka around 10:15am. He was received at the Akhaura railway station by the leaders and activists of his party.

Anisul is scheduled to join a mass reception to be accorded to him at Kasba upazila this afternoon. He will inaugurate a bridge at Dhorkhar union under Akhaura upazila and attend a rally on Saturday.
