People to vote with festivity: Hasan

Chattogram: Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud yesterday said people of the country will paint chalk on the face of election boycotters through casting their votes in festive moods on January 7 next.
“The voters of the country are now election oriented and a festive mood is prevailing across the country centering the coming poll. In fact, it is a slap to those persons who are boycotting the election,” he said in a street meeting before a rally at Lichu Bagan of Chandraghona on Chattogram-Kaptai road.
Thousands of voters joined the rally organised by the AL Ranguniya upazila unit.
Dr Hasan said, “I’ve always tried to stay beside the people of my area. I’ve also visited Chattogram and my constituency in Ranguniya in every week along with performing my responsibilities as a minister and party leader as well”.
Seeking cooperation of all to continue the progress under the AL government, the information minister said, “I’ve tried to be a lawmaker irrespective of all parties and opinions. My door was open for all for the last 15 years.”
He said the country moves ahead under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, no matter who admits it or not. But there might have mistakes in running the government as people do mis-takes. There is no government in the world that can do cent percent work properly, he added.
Hasan Mahmud has said his constituency Ranguniya has witnessed massive development works after his election as parliament member from the area. “You have elected me as a Member of Parliament. I have always tried to stand beside you and want to do my best for the welfare of all. Even, I helped the youths to get jobs who campaigned against me,” he said.
The minister said, “My door is always open to all irrespective of party affiliation. I’ve tried my best to stay beside the people and help them. I’ve never seen which party he or she belongs to, whether they voted for me or not. I believe that I am everyone’s MP.”
Ranguniya Upazila chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, AL north district unit leaders Abul Kashem Chis-ti, Md Shahjahan Sikder, Nazrul Islam Talukder, Md Iddris Asgar, Muhammad Ali Shah, Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, Iftekhar Hossain Babul, Akther Hossain Khan, Shafiqul Islam, Abdul Monaf Sikdar and Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder, among others, were present.
