PM gifts five rickshaws to 2 July fighters

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday gave five rickshaws to two July fighters and a 65-year-old man to help them become self-employed and support their livelihoods.
A CNG-run auto-rickshaw was given to July fighter and student Mohammad Aziz Sheikh, two pedal rickshaws were given to July fighter Md Gaffar, and two battery-powered rickshaws were given to 65-year-old poor man Asadul Haque Bishu.
The Prime Minister handed over the gifts to the recipients at a program at his office yesterday afternoon.
While presenting the gift, the premier spoke to each recipient cordially and inquired about their physical condition, families and livelihoods.
Mohammad Aziz Sheikh, a resident of Lohagara upazila in Narail and a second-year student of Social Work Department of Mirpur Bangla College, received the CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
He drives a CNG auto-rickshaw to support his family while continuing his studies. He was shot at Mirpur-10 in the capital while participating in the July Mass Uprising and sustained 36 bullet fragments in his body.
During the July Mass Uprising, he regularly supplied water to protesters in the Mohakhali area of the capital and transported injured people to hospitals in his rickshaw.
The Prime Minister personally inspected how the gifted vehicles would be operated and gave the recipi-ents necessary instructions on safely taking those to their home.
BNP lawmaker Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman were present.
