Staff Reporter:
Xenovia Union has expanded its grassroots self-protection training programme in Rangpur to promote safety awareness and build confidence among girls through community-based initiatives.
The programme provided participants with practical knowledge on personal safety, basic self-defence techniques, emergency response and risk awareness.
The girls also took part in interactive sessions aimed at helping them better understand personal security and respond effectively to challenging situations.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over the safety of women and girls at the community level. Through the programme, Xenovia Union is working with local communities to raise awareness and encourage girls to become more informed and confident about their personal safety.
The organisation said its mission is to empower young people through education, awareness and community-based solutions, with the long-term goal of helping build a society where every girl has access to safety resources and opportunities to grow without fear.
The Rangpur programme is part of Xenovia Union’s broader effort to bring safety education closer to communities, particularly in areas where access to such training remains limited.
Participants welcomed the initiative, saying it equipped them with practical safety skills and underscored the importance of expanding similar awareness programmes for girls at the grassroots level.
Xenovia Union said it plans to extend the programme to more communities as part of its ongoing work on youth empowerment, safety awareness and social development.
