Six fishermen go missing as trawler capsizes in Bay

Patuakhali: Six fishermen have remained missing since Sunday after a fishing trawler carrying 11 fish-ermen capsized in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Rangabali upazila in Patuakhali district.
Those who went missing are Imadul Kha, 45, of Tularam village, Harun, 60, of Kharida village under Panpatti Union, Forkan, 45, Sayed, 20, and Al-Amin, 40, of Adani village under Gajalia Union, and Akkas, 25, of Pakshia village in Golachipa Sadar Union.
Those who retuned alive, said the trawler, owned by Imadul Sikder of Kharida village, carrying 11 fish-ermen capsized in the Bay of Bengal on Sunday night, around 60 kilometres south of Moudubi area of the coastal upazila while the fishermen were catching fish in the deep sea due to strong currents.
Five of the fishermen managed to stay afloat for nearly six hours by clinging to parts of the trawler and a buoy.
The rescued fishermen were later given primary treatment at the local upazila health complex.
Search efforts are continuing to locate the six missing fishermen.
Jashim Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Rangabali Police Station said they aware of the incident but it falls under the jurisdiction of Galachipa Police Station.
