Minister calls for upholding Barind heritage

Rajshahi: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu yesterday urged students to embrace the rich history and heritage of the ancient Barind civilization and grow up as responsible and worthy citizens of the country.
Addressing the Farewell Reception-2026 for HSC examinees at Rajshahi Barendra College as the chief guest, he said students should utilize the knowledge and education acquired from educational institutions to develop themselves through their own efforts and contribute to nation-building.
He expressed optimism that Barendra College would further strengthen its position as one of the leading centres of education and culture in the region in the coming years.
Highlighting the historical significance of the Barind region, the minister said Barind is one of the oldest inhabited areas of Bangladesh, with a civilization dating back nearly 3,000 to 4,000 years.
“The culture, language and educational traditions of this region have enlightened people since ancient times,” he said.
The program was presided over by Taufiqur Rahman Lablu, chairman of the governing body of Rajshahi Barendra College.
Chairman of Rajshahi Development Authority Abul Kalam Azad Sweet attended the event as the special guest, while Principal Ranjit Kumar Saha delivered the welcome address.
Government and non-government officials, teachers, students, distinguished guests and media representa-tives were present.
