Staff Reporter:
Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was disrupted after a wagon of an oil-laden freight train derailed in Moulvibazar on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place inside Lawachhara National Park around 3:30pm between Bhanugachh and Sreemangal railway stations.
Railway sources said an empty wagon of the freight train, which was heading to Akhaura from Sylhet, veered off the tracks inside the forest area.
Due to the derailment, other trains on the route remained stranded at different stations.
Confirming the matter, Shamshernagar Station Master Rajat Kumar Roy said a hydraulic tool van was being taken to the spot to carry out rescue operations.
