Lisa Greminger, Regional Adviser for Migration and Protection at the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, spoke at a dissemination workshop on climate-related displacement and urban migration organised by the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU), according to a Facebook post by the Embassy.
During the workshop, Greminger highlighted the importance of inclusive urban planning, decent livelihood opportunities and gender-responsive support systems to ensure migration creates pathways to resilience, dignity and opportunity.
She stressed the need for collaborative efforts and evidence-based approaches as climate-related mobility continues to shape urban development and future migration trends.
Participants at the event discussed challenges linked to climate-induced displacement and explored policy approaches to strengthen protection and support systems for affected communities.
The discussions also underscored the importance of long-term planning and coordinated action to address the growing impact of climate change on migration patterns and urban resilience.
