Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain said a mother is a child’s first shelter, first teacher, and lifelong guide as her selfless love, sacrifice, and silent service can never truly be repaid through gratitude alone.
“Our duty is to honor and care for our mothers throughout our lives” he told an event marking Mother’s Day at RAOWA Convention Centre in the capital’s Mohakhali yesterday.
Universal Medical College Hospital organized the proud mothers honoring event titled “Gorbini Maa-2026” (Proud Mother 2026).
Zahid Hossain said recognizing the mothers behind successful individuals in various sectors—whose tire-less sacrifices, encouragement, and inspiration contributed to their achievements—is undoubtedly com-mendable.
Narsingdi-5 (Raipura) lawmaker Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bokul, Universal Medical College Hospital chairperson Priti Chakraborty, Managing Director Dr. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty also spoke.
Mothers of 11 distinguished citizens from different sectors were honoured with commemorative crests, medals, free health check-up packages and gift items.
