Rebuilding country from ruins BNP’s new challenge: Fakhrul

Staff Reporter:

BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said rebuilding the country after pulling it out of destruction is now the new challenge for the government.

“Today we face a huge challenge. We came to power amid a heap of destruction. Wherever you look, you hear that there is nothing left. That is the real situation. Rising from this destruction and rebuilding is not only challenge for the party but also for the government,” he said.

The veteran BNP leader made the remarks this morning at an exchange-of-views meeting with district leaders of BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the city.

He said, “You have just completed a major struggle. That struggle was to save the people, save the country and protect democracy. You have won that battle. We achieved a majority in parliament. Under the leadership of our leader Tarique Rahman, we have been able to form the government.”

Addressing party leaders and activists, he urged them to remember the leadership of Tarique and the sacrifices made by party members and further strengthen the party. He also called on them to take the party’s activities to people at the grassroots level and maintain close connections with the public.

BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed the gathering as the chief guest.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi presided over the programme. BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku, Selima Rahman and Dr AZM Zahid Hossain were present, among others.
