Govt. receives Limon’s body

The government yesterday received the mortal remains of slain Bangladeshi student Jamil Ahmed Limon at Dhaka airport as authorities said diplomatic efforts were continuing to ensure a proper investigation and justice over the killings in the United States.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on behalf of the government received Limon’s body at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:40am and handed it over to the victim’s family members who were present at the airport.
The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment extended overall support in receiving and handing over the body, according to an official release.
While handing over the body, the state minister said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been maintain-ing regular communication with the United States government to ensure a proper investigation into the tragic killings and bring those responsible to justice.
Officials said Bristy’s body is currently under the care of a funeral home and efforts are underway to send it to Bangladesh on May 7.
Her funeral prayer is scheduled to be held on May 6 with the participation of Bangladeshi expatriates in Florida.
Bangladesh Consulate General in Miami and the Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington, D.C. are jointly coordinating the repatriation process.
