A Dhaka court yesterday granted a seven-day remand for Hasanul Haq Inu, president of Jatiya Samajtan-trik Dal and former information minister, in connection with the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud at city’s New Market area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider issued the order on Tuesday after investigating officer, Sub-inspector Murad Khan of New Market Police Station, sought a 10-day remand.
The deceased’s nephew-in-law, Abdur Rahman filed the case at New Market Police Station on August 21.
The former minister was arrested by a Detective Branch (DB) team from Uttara on Monday afternoon.
The case revolves around the fatal shooting of Abdul Wadud on July 19 in front of gate number 1 of New Market. Following the incident, a murder case was filed against 130 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former bridges minister Obaidul Quader.
