A Dhaka court on Thursday sentenced a father to death for raping his daughter. He was also fined taka one lakh.
Judge Shahriar Kabir of Dhaka’s Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the verdict. After the verdict, the convicted was sent to jail.
According to the case documents, the victim girl lived with her father in Keraniganj area of the capital. The girl’s mother lived abroad. On 22 February 2022, the girl was raped by her father.
After the incident, the girl filed a rape case against her father with Dakshin Keraniganj Police Station on 24 February 2022.
Later, police arrested the girl’s father and he admitted the crime. He also gave a confessional statement under section 164 in the court.
