Manikganj: Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl from the Kaliganga River in Kusherchar area of Sadar upazila in Manikganj on Monday morning, two days after she had gone missing.
The deceased was identified as Samia Islam, daughter of Saiful Islam of Chandina village of Comilla district. She was a class IX student of Manikganj Surendra Kumar Government Girls’ High School.
According to police and family sources, Samia remained missing since she left home on Saturday after-noon for her tuition. In the evening, Samia’s school bag was found in the Charbeutha area.
Then a general diary was filed with Sadar Police Station.
Locals spotted Samia’s body floating in the river in Kusherchar area on Monday morning and informed police, said Habil Hossain, officer-in-charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station.
The body was sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.
