A parliamentary committee on Wednesday asked the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry to submit a report to it on environmental clearances issued against real estate companies and industries.
The Committee on Public Estimates sought to see what criterions have been followed by the Department of Environment (DoE) under the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry in issuing clearances to real estate companies and other industrial units.
The JS body asked for a report on this during its 22nd meeting held with the Committee Chairman Noor-E-Alam Chowhdury at the Parliament Secretariat, said a handout.
It recommended the ministry concerned to take necessary steps for setting up a government nursery in every upazila of the country.
The committee also asked the ministry to undertake proper project for developing training institutes of the Forest Department with modern facilities.
The parliamentary watchdog suggested the Youth and Sports Ministry to provide adequate allocation for the development of the fields which are being selected for construction of mini-stadiums under a project of the ministry.
Committee members Abdur Razzak, AKM Zahangir Hossain and Waseqa Ayesha Khan attended the meeting.
The Commerce Secretary, the Youth and Sports Secretary, IMED Secretary and Environment and Forest acting Secretary were present.
