Goalanda: Two people sustained bullet injuries while some miscreants opened fire in their bid to escape a crowd that gave them a good chase at Antar Mor Bazar of Goalanda upazila's bordering area with Rajbari Sadar on Thursday noon.
The injured were identified as Korom Ali Biswas, 55, son of late Eyad Ali Biswas of Char Borat village in Goa-landa upazila and Islam Bepari, 45, son of Fojer Ali of Savar village in Rajbari sadar upazila.
Asaduzamman, senior assistant superintendent of police said there were loggerheads between two groups of extremists over establishing supremacy in the area.
In sequel to a long-standing dispute, two miscreants went to Antar Mor Bazar area for an alleged attempt on one Altaf Hossain, son of Geda Sheikh of Char Borat village around 12 noon. The miscreants swooped on Altab while he was taking tea at a tea stall, but sensing the danger Altab fled the scene.
Korom received bullets injury on his forehead and Islam Bepari on his chest when they along with other local residents came forward to protest the miscreants' move, Asaduzamman added.
The injured were admitted to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
