8 fishermen missing in Bay

Barguna: Eight fishermen went missing as a trawler named ‘Mayer Doa’ capsized in the Bay of Bengal on Friday amid the rampage of cyclone ‘Midhili’ in the deep sea.
A total of eight fishermen, out of 12 fishermen in the trawler, went missing while four were res-cued alive, said Golam Mostafa Chowdhury, President of Barguna District Fishing Trawler Owners Association.
Yakub Ali, the owner of the trawler ‘Mayer Doa’ and the brother of missing fisherman Yusuf, said that on Tuesday, 12 fishermen on board the trawler went to the sea for fishing. The trawler sank due to cyclone Midhili on Friday afternoon.
Patharghata Station Commander of Coast Guard Southern Zone Lt. Sakib Mehbub said the Coast Guard has been on patrol after the cyclone and searching for missing fishermen.
