Seven buses in capital torched

Seven passenger buses have been set on fire in Arambagh, Gabtali, Gulistan, Jatrabari, Mirpur, Rupna-gar areas from Saturday evening to Sunday morning ahead of fresh 48-hour countrywide blockade en-forced by BNP.
Fire service and civil defence’s media cell officer in charge Mohammad Shahjahan Shikder confirmed the media.
A Malancha Paribahan bus was set on fire in the city’s Sutrapur area around 6:09 am yesterday.
Miscreants set fire to a Prajapati Paribahan bus near Kafrul police station around 9.38 pm on Saturday while another bus was torched near Rupnagar police station around 12am on the day.
A ‘Lal-Sabuj’ passenger bus was set on fire in front of Notre Dame College at 8:20 pm on Saturday. Two units of Siddique Bazar fire station doused the fire.
On the other hand, a bus of Gabtali Express was set on fire in front of Gabtali bus stand around 8:30 pm. Two units of Kalyanpur Fire Station brought the fire under control.
The third incident on Saturday night took place at Gulistan area around 9 pm as another bus was set ablaze in front of Square Market near Sergeant Ahad Police Box.
An Anabil Paribahan bus was set alight in Jatrabari area 9.27pm.
Two crude bombs were exploded in front of Babul Tower at Farmgate at 7.15pm on Saturday, said Tejgaon Police Station officer-in-charge Apurba Biswas.
BNP has been enforcing a fresh 48-hour nationwide blockade for yesterday and Monday. Many public vehicles were also set on fire during the previous blockade programmes of BNP and its allies in the last few weeks.
