A total of 240 senior assistant secretaries of the government have been promoted to deputy secretaries.
The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification after promoting the officers in administration on Saturday.
Of the promoted officers, there are nine senior assistant secretaries who are currently working in various embassies and missions abroad.
In addition, 231 senior assistant secretaries who were promoted to deputy secretaries were attached to the public administration ministry.
There are 1,750 posts of deputy secretary in the public administration. With the new promotion, the number of officers now stands at 1,718.
Mentionable, the government promoted 259 officers to deputy secretary on 1 November, last year.
