EC withholds by-polls results

The Election Commission (EC) has withheld the gazette notification of the results of by-elections to Lakshmipur-3 and Brahmanbaria-2 due to allegations of irregularities.
The commission will investigate into the allegations and decision will be taken on the basis of probe re-port, said EC Secretary Md Jahangir told reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon this af-ternoon.
The voting was held in the two constituencies on Sunday last.
