Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Zahir Uddin Swapan has warned that fugitive fascist elements and covert forces could conspire against BNP and exploit intra-party competition in the upcoming local government elections to fuel internal divisions.
These two groups are conspiring to create chaos in the country and therefore, party leaders and activists must remain alert so they do not fall into anyone’s trap of provocation.
He made the remark while addressing a number of meetings with BNP leaders and activists, organised by BNP in different unions of Gournadi and Agailjhara upazilas in Barishal, his own parliamentary constituency, over the last few days.
Barishal North District BNP Member Secretary Mizanur Rahman Khan Mukul was present as a special guest at the views-exchange meetings, along with leaders of upazila and union BNP.
Zahir Uddin Swapan further said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman himself has informed the nation that there are intelligence reports about attempts to create chaos in the country.
The Prime Minister has also mentioned that attempts have been made to create unrest among some workers at factories in several places of the country.
Urging party leaders and activists to be vigilant in this regard, the adviser said party leaders and activists must build steel-strong unity to foil any conspiracy against BNP.
No one should be able to weaken the party centring the local government elections or obstruct development activities, he added.
