Awami League’s Rupganj unit general secretary Shahjahan Bhuiyan joined the grand rally of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with 20,000 supporters on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed a grand rally in the city’s Arambagh area, marking the inauguration of the much-anticipated metro rail service from Agargaon to Motijheel.
Thousands of activists from Rupganj entered the capital with a fleet of 300 decorated vehicles under the leadership of Bhuiyan, an aspirant for nomination from the Awami League.
Among others, Kanchan municipality mayor Rafiqul Islam, AL upazila unit vice presidents Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz and Mashiur Rahman Tareq, assistant office secretary Obaidul Mazid Jewel Master, sports secretary Saiful Islam Sohel, health secretary Dr Faisal Ahmed, executive members Nabi Hossain and Abdul Karim, Jubo League upazila unit vice president Khaled Hossain, and Daudpur chairman Nurul Islam Jahangir Master, and AL central research sub-committee member Abul Fazal Raju were also present on the occasion.
