Singapore: President Mohammed Shahabuddin, who had his cardiac bypass surgery at the National Uni-versity Hospital in Singapore on October 18, will return home this evening.
“A commercial aircraft (flight BG-585) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited, carrying the President along with his wife Dr Rebecca Sultana and other entourage members, is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) International Airport (HISA) at 6 pm today,” President’s press secretary Md Joynal Abedin told yesterday.
Cabinet members, high-ranking military and civil officials will welcome the Head of the State at the airport on his return, he added.
The medical board, formed earlier to review the President’s health condition, on Monday examined all reports and expressed satisfaction over the progress of his health condition allowing him to travel by air.
Meanwhile, President Shahabuddin flew to Singapore on October 16 to have the cardiac bypass surgery under the supervision of an eminent cardiac surgeon Professor Dr. Kofidis Theodoros of the National University Hospital here.
