A fire broke out at the Cargo Village Complex of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka late on Friday night, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The incident occurred at around 11:00pm near Gate No. 9 of the airport’s cargo complex. Following a report received at 11:24pm, four units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence were dispatched to the scene.
Shafiq, a duty officer at the Fire Service Headquarters, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 11:38pm, containing the fire within 14 minutes of commencing operations.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be known immediately.
Relevant authorities are currently working to determine the source of the blaze and assess any losses.
Airport sources said the situation returned to normal after the fire was extinguished. However, precautionary measures have been taken in parts of the cargo area to ensure safety and prevent any further risks.
No casualties were reported at the time of filing this report.
