Anarchists and people trying to destabilise the country will face the law irrespective of their political links, said Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, referring to a recent violent incident involving the ruling BNP’s student wing.
“There is always some unruly people in a society, who cause chaos. These is no scope for them to go beyond the law. There is no scope to politicise legal measures or make the law political party-centric,” he said while inaugurating the central Hindu temple at Chittagong University on Friday.
Amir Khosru, also a member at BNP’s Standing Committee, made the remarks after reporters asked for his comments concerning the Thursday night attack by Chhatra Dal, BNP’s student wing, on two leaders of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU).
Chhatra Dal’s Dhaka University unit allegedly brought in “outsiders” during the attack and tensions.
Amir Khosru said that the government’s position is clear: no “outsiders” can enter a university’s premises. A university is a place where students go to study, and there is no scope to make issues politicised or partisan here, the BNP leader added.
