Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate, has urged the public to remain alert after fraudsters used artificial intelligence (AI) to create a fake video soliciting investments in the company’s name.
The video, posted from a Facebook page named Silent Streets, features an AI-generated version of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, appearing to deliver a speech and inviting people to invest in several “attractive packages”.
In a statement, the company said the video is entirely fabricated, and all information presented in it is false and misleading. It added that the video was created with the intention of deceiving people and committing financial fraud.
Bashundhara Group has advised the public not to engage in any financial or other transactions based on the fake content and to stay vigilant against such scams.
