Staff Reporter:
The Bangladesh Secretariat has issued afresh instructions tightening the process of providing one-time passwords (OTP) for visitor entry, following reports of misuse and disorder by unauthorized individuals.
According to an office order from the Home Ministry, sent to the media yesterday, private secretaries to senior secretaries, secretaries of various ministries, additional secretaries, and joint secretaries have been given the responsibility of issuing OTPs that allow visitor access to the Secretariat premises.
However, recent incidents have revealed that some visitors have created chaos by persuading or mislead-ing authorized officers into sharing OTPs, enabling them to enter the Secretariat without proper verifica-tion, the order said.
This has disrupted the work environment and caused confusion among officers and employees, prompt-ing authorities to enforce stricter measures.
The circular urged all authorized officers to refrain from issuing OTPs without properly verifying the visitor’s identity.
It also advised extreme caution when dealing with individuals who are unknown, barely known, or ap-peared suspicious.
Authorities hope that the enforcement of these measures will help maintain order and ensure security within the Secretariat premises.
