Jamaat Ameer expresses deep shock over earthquake casualties

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and injuries caused by the powerful earthquake that struck the country on Friday morning.

In a statement issued on Friday afternoon, Shafiqur Rahman prayed for the departed souls and conveyed sympathy to the families of the deceased and injured.

He also called on authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and compensation for the victims, while also wishing a speedy recovery for those hurt.

The Jammat chief urged strict monitoring to ensure multistorey buildings are constructed according to building codes and said the government must raise public awareness to reduce earthquake-related damage.
