Around 3,500 voters have registered to cast their votes through the Postal Vote BD app on the first day of registration, according to the authorities overseeing the system.
The registration process began on Thursday and will continue until 23 December.
Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the Out of Country Voting System and Implementation (OCV-SDI) project, confirmed the development today.
He said that for the upcoming national election, 1,745 Bangladeshis living in South Korea have registered for postal voting.
Additionally, 690 voters registered in Japan, 368 in China, 363 in South Africa, 61 in Libya, 52 in Egypt, 19 in Uganda, 15 in Mozambique, 14 in Mauritius, 11 each in Nigeria and Liberia, nine in Botswana, six in the Republic of Congo, five in Tanzania, four in Kenya, and four in Morocco.
For the first time, not only expatriates but also prisoners and election officials on duty will be able to cast their votes through postal ballots.
