Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus yesterday congratulated the Bangladesh National Football Team for their impressive 1-0 victory against India in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The victory, achieved in a packed stadium in the capital, marks Bangladesh’s first competitive win over India in 22 years.
In a message issued by his press wing at noon, Prof Yunus said the triumph had uplifted the spirit of millions. “This is not just a victory in a football match; rather, it is an inspiration for young people who see sports as a source of positive energy,” he said.
“Sports play an important role in nation building. This victory against a strong opponent India is a significant step forward in this regard,” he added.
The Chief Adviser expressed hope that this victory will help bring back the glory days of Bangla-desh football.
