Naogaon: Two people were killed and seven others injured when a shallow-engine-run human hauler, locally known as a Bhotbhoti, overturned and plunged into a ditch on the Biharinagar Bypass in Dhamoirhat upazila of Naogaon district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Bhuttu Hossain, 45, a cattle trader and son of Nazim Uddin, and Ma-sudur Rahman Maula, 30, the driver of the vehicle and son of Joynul of Aranagar village in the upazila.
Quoting locals, Imam Zafar, officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat Police Station, said the accident occurred in the Double Bridge area around 7:30 am when the Joypurhat-bound, cattle-laden Bhotbhoti overturned while giving way to a motorcycle, leaving two people dead on the spot and seven others injured.
On information, a team from the Fire Service rushed to the scene and carried out a rescue operation.
The injured were taken to Dhamoirhat Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
