Elaborate programs to celebrate Victory Day taken

The government has taken elaborate programs to celebrate the glorious Victory Day-2025 with due dig-nity and solemnity.
These programs were taken at an inter-ministerial meeting in Dhaka under the initiative of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, said an official handout here yesterday.
Marking the day, messages from the President and the Chief Advisor will be published in print and elec-tronic media, as well as special articles in newspapers, literary magazines and supplements. The national flag will be hoisted on all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings in the coun-try and Bangladesh embassies and missions abroad.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, BTV, Bangladesh Betar and various private radio and TV channels will make arrangements to publicize the rules and regulations for hoisting the national flag, including the correct size and color, it said.
Important government and private buildings and establishments will be illuminated. However, lights will not be lit during the day and night of December 14. On December 16, at sunrise, thirty-one cannon shots will be fired in all districts and upazilas of the country, including Dhaka.
At sunrise on that day (6:34 am), the President and the Chief Advisor will lay wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar.
In addition, members of the Bir Shrestha family, war-wounded freedom fighters, freedom fighters and foreign diplomats, led by the Advisor on Liberation War Affairs, will lay wreaths.
Similar programs will be held at the district and upazila levels.
At 9 am, a gathering of students of educational institutions at the division, district and upazila levels, hoisting of the national flag, playing of the national anthem, parade and display will be organized in honor of the heroic freedom fighters.
A three-day grand victory fair will be organized in all districts and upazilas of the country and children will participate in writing, recitation, painting competitions and cultural programmes based on the Liber-ation War.
Discussions related to independence and the Liberation War will be organized at Bangladesh embassies abroad with the participation of foreign professors, prominent citizens, local administration, distin-guished individuals, artists-literate people, political figures, journalists, media persons and Bangladeshis living abroad.
Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Coast Guard, individually or jointly, will keep the BIWTA wharfs at Chattogram, Khulna, Mongla and Payra ports and Sadarghat, Narayanganj and Barisal open to the public from 9 am to sunset on that day.
Sports events – football matches, T20 cricket tournaments, kabaddi and ha-du-du games – will be orga-nized at convenient times at the district and upazila levels with the participation of students of schools, colleges, madrasas and other educational institutions.
Different private radio and TV channels, including television and Bangladesh Betar, will broadcast pro-grams based on the glorious history of the Liberation War on the occasion of the great Victory Day.
In addition, film screenings based on the Liberation War will be organized for students in cinema halls in all districts and upazilas of the country including Dhaka without tickets, and film screenings based on the Liberation War will be organized in auditoriums or open spaces at the district and upazila levels un-der the initiative of the Department of Mass Communication.
Museums and entertainment venues will be kept open for children in the morning and evening and ar-rangements will be made for screenings without tickets, and colorful cultural programs will be organized in all tourist centers of the country.
All hospitals, prisons, old age homes, orphanages/street children’s rehabilitation centers, disabled welfare centers, day care and child development centers, and child families and homeless institutions in the coun-try will organize feasts.
Arrangements will be made to decorate the main roads and road islands of Dhaka and various cities of the country with various banners, festoons and colorful flags along with the national flag.
The Directorate of Posts will issue commemorative postage stamps on the occasion of the great Victory Day 2025.
Special prayers will be organized in all mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and other places of wor-ship, seeking forgiveness for the departed souls of the martyred freedom fighters, good health of the freedom fighters and war-wounded freedom fighters, and peace, prosperity and development of the na-tion.
