The daylong event titled ‘36 July Celebration’ began on Thursday at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka, marking the first anniversary of the July-August mass uprising aimed at ousting the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina.
The programme finally started around 5:10pm with the singing of the national anthem, attended by Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other political leaders.
The programme, organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, began around 12:15pm and the people from all walks of life arriving from different parts of the city to take part in the event.
The chief adviser is expected to read out the historic July Declaration during the programme.
