Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam has warned of a repeat of the “1/11” political crisis that many see as a prelude to the rise of Awami League fascist regime, as per a facebook post he published Monday.
He later edited the post, saying that in spite of the growing political disunity and continued undemocratic practices, the people’s fight for building a “fascism free country” will not be defeated.
In reply to a comment on his facebook post, he remarked that the socio-political turmoil that paved the way for the 2006-08 military-backed caretaker government is becoming evident in the country now.
In reply to another comment, the adviser said the old governing practice, which was seen during the two-year political stalemate, remains active despite the fall of Awami League dictatorship 11 months ago.
Similar undemocratic practices are continuing now and would utlimately encourage the establishment of another military-backed government, he suggested. He said the “people’s fight” for strengthening democracy remains long.
