Info adviser mourns death of Shamsher Ali

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam yesterday expressed deep shock at the death of Professor M Shamsher Ali, an eminent nuclear physicist, a former professor of Dhaka University and the founder of Open University.
In a condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep condo-lences to the bereaved family.
The information adviser said nuclear scientist Prof Shamsher Ali has made outstanding contributions to the Bangladesh’s education sector.
Noting that Prof Shamsher Ali was a versatile talent, Mahfuj Alam said his death is an irreparable loss to the country.
Prof Shamsher Ali, a pioneering educationist and a leading voice in science advocacy in Bangladesh, passed away in the early hours of yesterday at a city hospital. He was 87.
