A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered the seizure of 354 decimals of land worth Tk1.95 crore owned by Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique, husband of Sheikh Rehana, and their son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby.
Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judges court passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The petition stated that an inquiry is ongoing against Dr Shafique and Radwan Mujib over allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income. The accused were attempting to transfer or dispose of the immovable property in question, it said.
The same court also imposed a travel ban on four individuals, including Abdul Malek, former mayor of Langalkot Municipality in Cumilla, over allegations of amassing illegal wealth.
The others barred from leaving the country are: Md. Abdur Razzak of Khatachou Hajibari area, Langalkot, Cumilla; Md. Shamsuddin Kalu of Chairman Bari area, Langalkot, Cumilla; Md. Yusuf Bhuiyan of Dhalua Bazar Baro Bari area, Langalkot, Cumilla.
