Singaporean medical team due last night: DGHS

Staff Reporter:

A team of specialist physicians from Singapore is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka last night to ensure ad-vanced treatment for those injured in Monday’s fighter jet crash at Uttara Milestone School and College.
The medical team is expected to land around 10:40 pm as part of the government’s initiative to provide quality treatment to the victims, said Dr Abu Zafar Ahmed, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
“The interim government has issued clear directives to take all necessary steps to ensure proper treatment for the injured,” he told.
In line with those directives, we have contacted Singaporean physicians, and their first team will reach Dhaka tonight,” he added.
The visiting doctors will assess the condition of the injured being treated at various hospitals and decide which patients may need to be taken abroad for further advanced treatment.
Based on the recommendations of the Singaporean physicians, the government will also facilitate over-seas treatment for those requiring specialized care.
Following the incident on Monday afternoon, the Health Ministry formed a medical team in coordina-tion with doctors at all levels of the DGHS to monitor the situation.
Team members have been collecting information from different hospitals and remain on alert to arrange advanced care as necessary.
“The government has given strict instructions to ensure the highest standard of treatment at any cost,” the DGHS chief said, adding that all necessary preparations have been completed in accordance with the directives.
He also warned that any negligence or laxity by doctors, nurses, or anyone involved in the treatment process will not be tolerated.
