Curfew relaxed in Gopalganj

Gopalganj: The local administration imposed section 144 in Gopalganj from 6am to 8pm yesterday.
The curfew in Gopalganj has been relaxed during the period of enforcing section 144.
However, educational institutions and public examinations will be exempted from its scope.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Muhammad Kamruzzaman confirmed the matter by issu-ing an office order on Saturday night.
After a 14-hour break on Saturday, the curfew was extended for 10 more hours to maintain law and or-der and ensure public safety.
Curfew will be in force from 8:00pm Saturday night to 6:00am Sunday.
Earlier, through an order issued on Thursday night, the district administration relaxed the curfew for 14 hours – from 6:00am to 8:00pm on Saturday.
The local administration stated that further decisions on the curfew would be taken after assessing the law and order situation in consultation with law enforcing agencies.
The curfew was initially imposed from 8pm on July 16 until 6pm on July 17 following an attack on a roadside meeting of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj district.
During the second phase, the curfew period was extended from 6pm on July 17 to 11 am on July 18.
With a three-hour break (from 11 am to 2 pm on July 18), the curfew was re-imposed from 2 pm on July 18 until further orders.
Later, the curfew period was extended in the third phase from 8 pm on July 18 to 6 am on July 19.
