No matter what happens, this march will not stop: Nahid

Staff Reporter:

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam on Thursday said that people across the country have already seen the version of the refined Awami League and refined Mujibists in Gopalganj.

He made the remark in a rally organised at the Janata Bank intersection in Faridpur district as part of the NCP’s nationwide road march programme.

“Four people were killed extrajudicially in Gopalganj on Wednesday. The Awami League and Chhatra League personage involved must be arrested in the trial process. They must be brought to justice. But we see that they are not being arrested,” he added.

Nahid further said, “Those who thought that they would stop this July march by attacking, obstructing, and carrying out armed attacks, have forgotten who they are standing in front of. We will not return home without carrying out this march in 64 districts. No matter what happens, this march will not stop.”

The NCP convener said that they will gather at Shaheed Minar on 3 August to demand the manifesto and July Charter declaration after completing the march in 64 districts.

Nahid said the trial process is not progressing as the arrestees are being released by the court.

He said, “We defeated the Mujibist terrorists on 5 August last year. We are still giving time, let these terrorists be arrested legally and peacefully.”

“I want to tell those who are allies of tyranny and corrupt officials at various levels in the administration that we have taken to the streets demanding justice. We will not leave the streets without justice,” the NCP convener added.

“Otherwise, we will immediately march to Gopalganj district, and this time, we will not march to return. We will return after completely liberating the land and people of Gopalganj,” he added.

Nahid said, “We urge the administration not to harass the general public unnecessarily. But the fascists and terrorists must be arrested.”

Nahid said, “We are coming from that July mass uprising. Till today, we have been saying that our path is the middle path. Our programme is a peaceful programme, a non-violent programme.”

NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, among others, spoke at the rally conducted by NCP Southern Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah.
