14 NBR officials suspended for publicly tearing up transfer orders

The government on Tuesday suspended 14 officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for ‘pub-licly tearing up’ their transfer orders.
The Internal Resources Department (IRD) issued separate orders in this regard on Tuesday.
The suspended officials are- Additional Commissioner of the Directorate of VAT Audit, Intelligence and Investigation Hasan Muhammad Tarek Rikabder, Additional Tax Commissioner of Dhaka Tax Zone-8 Mirza Ashiq Rana, Sub-Project Director of the National Single Window Project Sifat-e-Mariam, Second Secretary of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Shahadat Jamil, Joint Tax Commissioner of Dhaka Tax Zone-2 Masuma Khatun, Joint Tax Commissioner of Tax Zone-15 Murad Ahmed, Kushtia Tax Zone Morshed Uddin Khan, Noakhali Tax Zone Joint Tax Commissioner Monalisa Shahreen Sushmita, Cox’s Bazar Tax Zone Joint Tax Commissioner Ashraful Alam Pradhan, Khulna Tax Zone Excise Commis-sioner Shihabul Islam, Rangpur Tax Zone Excise Commissioner Nushrat Jahan and Comilla Tax Zone Excise Commissioner Imam Touhid Hasan, Khulna Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Reve-nue Officer Shafiul Bashar and Sabuj Mia, revenue officer of Dhaka North Customs Bond Commission-erate.
According to NBR sources, all of them were involved in the protests last month.
According to the order, this decision was taken after conducting a departmental inquiry against them for their arrogant behavior by publicly tearing up the transfer orders issued on June 22.
During the suspension period, they will be entitled due allowances as per the government rules.
Internal Resources Division Secretary and NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan signed the order.
Last week, the ACC launched an investigation against 16 officials, including two members of the NBR. Most of them were involved in the movement.
So far, three members and one commissioner have been sent on compulsory retirement since the move-ment was withdrawn.
The commissioner of the Chittagong Customs House was suspended for stopping work during complete shutdown programme on June 28 and 29.
