Malaysia returnees not linked to militancy: Home Adviser

Staff Reporter:

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that those who have been sent back from Malaysia are not militants at all. The Malaysian government repatriated them due to the expiration of their visas.

He made this statement while speaking to journalists on Sunday (July 6) at 11:00 am after inspecting the Export Cargo Village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The Home Adviser said, “The three individuals who returned from Malaysia are not militants; their visas had simply expired. They have no connection with militancy in Bangladesh either. Currently, there is no militancy in the country. Over the past 10 months, there has been no existence of militancy.”

Regarding the visit to Shahjalal’s Export Cargo Village, he said, “Recently, protests by officials of the National Board of Revenue disrupted export operations. The visit was conducted to assess the extent of that disruption and to determine whether operations have resumed. It was merely an inspection, not any formal event.”
