NCP begins its July walkathon

The National Citizen Party (NCP) yesterday began the organization’s countrywide July walkathon to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising by visiting the grave of martyred Abu Sayeed and his mother’s blessings.
The program titled ‘Desh Garte July Padayatra’ (‘July Walkathon for Building the Nation’) will continue from July 1 to July 30.
The central and local leaders and activists of NCP visited the grave of martyred Abu Sayeed in his vil-lage Babanpur under Pirganj upazila of Rangpur at 10:30 am.
NCP central convener Nahid Islam, member-secretary Akhtar Hossen, southern region chief organizer Md Hasnat Abdullah, northern region chief organizer Md Sarjis Alam, chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, senior joint coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud, senior joint member-secretary Dr Tasnim Zara and others visited the grave and offered special munajats there.
After visiting the grave, the central NCP leaders spoke to the family members including the parents of martyred Abu Sayeed and inquired about their whereabouts.
Abu Sayeed’s mother Most Monwara Begum patted the head and prayed for Nahid Islam, the one-point demand announcer of the July Uprising.
At this time, Abu Sayeed’s mother Monwara Begum and father Md Maqbul Hossain were in tears.
In such a heartbreaking atmosphere, Nahid Islam and the rest of the NCP leaders could not hold back their tears either. They consoled Abu Sayeed’s family.
At the same time, NCP leaders expressed their determination to work to build the new Bangladesh of Abu Sayeed’s dream through the July walkathon across the country.
Later, the NCP leaders addressed a press briefing and left Abu Sayeed’s village for Sadullapur upazila in Gaibandha to begin their party’s announced nationwide programme from Sadullapur Shaheed Minar premises in Gaibandha.
After parading Sadullapur, Palashbari, Sundarganj and Gaibandha Sadar upazilas of Gaibandha district, the walkathon will enter Rangpur city in the afternoon.
The NCP leaders will visit the site where Abu Sayeed was shot by the police on July 16, 2024 in front of Begum Rokeya University at the Park Mour area of Rangpur city.
Later, the walkathon will proceed through Lalbagh, Shapla Chattar, Jahaj Company Mour and Payra Chattar and attend a roadside rally at the central Shaheed Minar premises of Rangpur city at 3 pm.
The walkathon will pass through the DC intersection, Rangpur Medical College Hospital intersection and the check post area of Rangpur city at the end of the day.
At night, the NCP leaders will participate in public relations and road meetings in Kawnia upazila of Rangpur at night.
