Staff Reporter:
BNP will hold an emergency meeting of the party’s height policy-making body, the National Standing Committee, lastnight to discuss the country’s evolving situation over the demand for a ban on Awami League.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, now staying in London, will preside over the meeting, Sayrul said.
Meanwhile, the advisory council of the government will also hold an emergency meeting to discuss the country’s prevailing situation.
Earlier on Friday, the government in a statement said that it will take a step to ban Awami League after discussing the issue with the country’s political parties.
Besides, people from all political parties, except BNP, thronged Shahbagh intersection to put pressure on the government to ban Awami League for its indulgence in crimes against humanity and indulgence in corruption during its last 15 years of rule.
Since the demand to ban the Awami League was raised, the BNP has been handling the issue strategically, showing no interest in supporting the demand.
