Gazipur: A man surrendered to police allegedly after killing his son in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district early Wednesday.
Police said Mohammad Ali of Nanaiya Atipara village in the upazila surrendered at Sreepur police station saying that he had killed his son Anwar Hossain at his house.
Quoting local people Joynal Abedin Mandal, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said Mohammad Ali sent Anwar to Malaysia 5/7 years ago.
After returning from Malaysia, Anwar became drug addicted.
He was sent to rehabilitation center and again sent him to Malaysia but he returned home few years ago.
On Tuesday, Anwar beat up Ali’s cattle at the cowshed with a stick.
As his father resisted him he also beat up his father.
Angered by the attack, Ali hit Anwar with a sharp weapon indiscriminately around 3 am while he was sleeping at his home, leaving Anwar dead.
Police took Ali into custody and sent the body to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital.
