Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Monday said an Indian military incursion into his country is imminent, without specifying the logics or the intelligence that have led him to this conclusion.
Speaking with Reuters, Asif mentioned the Pakistan’s military has briefed the government on the possibility of an Indian attack as Indian rhetoric “ramps up.”
“We have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now,” he said.
For years, Indian ruling party members and media outlets have followed a practice of accusing Pakistan authorities immediately after a terrorist attack in India-occupied Kashmir and mainland India.
However, in the latest Kashmir militant attack probe, as well as in the probe for the previous strike in 2019, India has so far failed to provide credible proofs to back up its claims.
This time, Pakistan has called for an international investigation into the attack to verify if the Indian government is “lying.”
After the most recent Kashmir terrorist attack, India identified two suspected militants as Pakistani, but has not shared proof to this end despite calls from Islamabad. Islamabad has denied any role and called for a neutral investigation.
